The first Sunshine Coast Solstice Swim took place last year with 50 swimmers heading to the beach outside the Alexandra Headlands Surf Club on a beautiful Sunday morning.
The fund raising success of the event depends on the generosity of the attendees, supporters and volunteers.
We are looking for new and exciting things this year and our team is working hard to extend our horizons to help this year grow bigger and better.
All funds raised will be donated equally between two charities that we believe are close to the heart for many people.
All generosity is gratefully received and certainly does go a long way in helping us raise money for two very good charities, without the kindness of our sponsors, the attendees and our volunteers, the event simply would not be the tremendous success it is each year.
There is no better way to start the day then with an open water swim at the beach!
Go on….you know you want to!
The Alex Rotary Club and Surf Club hopes to see you there!

Just wanted to say a huge thanks to the Year 9s from All Saints Anglican College who yesterday did a Beach Clean Up at Alex beach.
160 Year 9 students with 9 teachers managed to pick up 51.36 kgs or 3,232 pieces of litter in just 40 minutes from Beach Access 155-165 at Alexandra Headland.
Locals stopped and congratulated the students on cleaning up the area. They were extremely impressed that the students would take the time to care about the local environment and give back to the community they were visiting.
1372 cigarette butts
526 pieces of film (bits of plastic bags and soft plastics)
245 straws, plastic cutlery and lollypop sticks
And the students dragged back a bashed up shopping trolley, smashed wakeboard & some bricks.
Coordinating teacher pointed out that the Sunshine Coast Council had always been extremely responsive to any requests they sent through including changing the covering / coating on beach access stairs 2 years ago.
It showed the students how residents / active citizens and a local Council could work together to create a better community.
Great job! Well done to all the students, and congratulations to the school for fostering such a wonderful initiative.
